- How I Make My Dreams Real Living with a Disability in Iran
Learning About My Disability I was born to a lovely family with three older brothers. We had so much fun together and played all the time. Sometimes we fought, but at the end of the day, we all loved each other. My oldest brother used a wheelchair, and he was full of energy in our home. When I was 3 years old, we figured out that I was like him, and I also wasn't going to ever walk. Not Caring What Other People Think Although I couldn't walk, I had pain, fractured legs, hands & was cold for long periods of time. I had other physical problems, but I learned to be strong, happy, positive & social. My family was supportive & helped give me confidence, happiness, energy, and love. I went to school, parks, shopping centers, parties, movies, concerts, etc. I had many friends, and I was popular in school. I was everyone's best friend, we went out late & were often so naughty! Then I went to university and tried to find a job, but it was difficult because Iran is not accessible to people in wheelchairs. I studied accounting, but I didn't love it. I loved genetics, but I could live in a dorm or alone because there was no school for people like me in my city as I didn't live in a small city. When I went outside, people stared at me and said "Thank God" or "God, help her." This bothered me at first, but now I smile and look at them because I don't care anymore. I hope everyone can make their dreams real I've been using makeup since I was maybe 11 & I love it and dressing up. People look at me and say "How is she in a wheelchair, apply her own makeup and be pretty?" This is a story about my life as a person using a wheelchair! I have the right to live free and comfortable. I fight to live strong. There are too many humans like me who don't have confidence, power or happiness. I hope we can try making life easier for them. I believe we can get whatever we want, it doesn't matter what people think- we can do it! I hope everyone can make their dreams real. 💜

- Konliking Leg Massager Air Compression for Foot Calf Massage
Konliking Leg Massager Air Compression for Foot Calf Massage Air compression leg massagers promise blood and lymphatic circulation therapy- very much like a pair of personal recovery boots. The way these devices work, is that they help to improve lymphatic and blood system circulation- this in effect helps to nourish cells and dramatically enhance waste elimination. In addition, they stimulate the release of your body's natural painkillers-endorphins and amino acids that helps to provide the pain-release benefits that these like massagers promise. Many users report dramatic reductions in pain from using air compression leg massagers. - Mini Model Madness with Zebedee Management
How The Unthinkable Became Reality My name is Monique. I have a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type 3 (Brittle Bone Disease) which means I can break my bones just from sneezing. I guess I'm an unexpected model as you rarely see anyone like me in the media and this was never in my original life plan, but I am so grateful it happened. I work as an Administrative Assistant for a special needs school, I'm a lover of the arts as I am a Co-Founder and Director of the arts-based company, TripleC. I am both a National and International wheelchair dancer in ballroom and Latin. The crazy journey of me becoming a model all began when my dance teacher unknowingly sent Zebedee Management my information and the rest is history. Unexpected Modeling with Zebedee Management Modeling was never been in my plans, but it has been an amazing journey over the past year and few months from starting to feel more comfortable and confident in my own skin to having my first shoot in a swimsuit for Zebedee's Everybody Beautiful campaign to being a guest on BBC 5 Live Sista Collective Pod Cast, appearing in a couple of adverts and so much more. Some of my biggest achievements so far was doing a nude shoot with Murat Ozkasim and that portrait being selected within 200 images chosen and published in the Portrait of Britain Book & being on the cover of Grazia last year, which is still surreal. My Modeling Success with Zebedee Management Zebedee Management has created something amazing and unimaginable to most of the world, even recently I heard a professional say that the service that the agency provides is unheard of. People ask me sometimes what it's like being a model as they want to hear about the financial gain, glitz, and glam of it all. Honestly, as this was never in my plans, I genuinely don't do it for myself nor the assumed glitz and glam but for people who have never seen any representation of themselves in any form of the Media. All of my achievements with Zebedee so far does not seem real at all. If it all ended tomorrow, I would just be proud to have helped so many of the lovely people that have messaged me on Instagram. I am so honored to have been part of the amazing movement of reflecting the true diversity of society in all forms of the Media, especially when it comes to disability as it seems to be missed on the list of diversity most of the time.
- Me vs. Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome
How I adapted with Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome I have Klippel Trenanunay Syndrome, which is a complex vascular malformation that affects me, personally on my left lower extremities involving nerves and muscles and lymphatic. I was diagnosed early on when I was three years old. Off and on throughout this syndrome has come to play. But, now it's here and it's here to stay. I was unaware of what all my "birthmark" brought into my life. My day to day changed and now was meant with compression stockings, quarterly surgeries and the list goes on and on. When the medical answers started coming in of what I had and what was to come, I was hit with the reality of my goals and life needed adjustment. My work as a first responder has had to be cut down while I heal and I've had to find new ways to serve those around me, but this lead to a hidden passion being developed. I was told by doctors, these surgeries would take a toll physically, and although I may not be able to do things the same as people my age it was important my health gets in line and I believe I can do this. So, with all the reasons why I could not do being stacked, I chose to adapt. Introducing myself to the world of adaptive fitness, I started the biggest journey I have faced so far... and it was my health. Adaptive Crossfit Athlete I have found that when I ask "Why or Why Now?" I have coped by dealing with this into "What can this obstacle teach me and others?" As of today, I have completed 3 rounds of intense surgeries at The Mayo Clinic. I am still an active Crossfit athlete and have been blessed with the chance to be a part of other's journies as a CF-L1 at my box, Crossfit Stamina. I'm also an adaptive athlete certified trainer. Relearning my day to day life has shown me the burning desire I have to be a voice and a platform to advocate for those in the adaptive athlete community. I know I may never be the fittest athlete in the room and I am aware when I lie down at night, the next day might be the day I wake up and my condition has won the battle on my capabilities. However, I know that to quit now would be a waste of that burning desire inside of me. So, for those who read this who also face this obstacle- know you are not alone despite what any medical report may say. Find your calling and run with it full speed because people need to hear your story. I am thankful that through the highs and lows I have been backed 100% by organizations like yoocan and friends and family who see my ambition to improvise, adapt and overcome.

- I am Queen Diva, I Am Autism, I Am Patricia, I Am Me
Eliminating the Word "Disability" I am the first person to coin the word DIVERSABILITY. I've written many emails to advocates, activists, grassroots organizations, and mainstream political figures in Brooklyn & Washington DC. I also attended an Autism Fair in Brentwood, New York and told Cindy Kerrigan, and her boss, that I was going to change and eliminate the word "disability." I Am Autism Autism. It's just a word, but for so many Autistic people, we are so much more than just this WORD. Please watch my public testimony, which starts at 6:44:44 on June 13, 2011 in Albany, NY. I hope to become a community activist, educator, and leader for PoC in order to work with all parental guides and other activists, academic, education, and urban community leaders and personnel to help change current systems and/ or create new ones to better mirror the actual urban landscapes of today.
- AnyOne Can Ride: Teaching People With Disabilities To Ride A Bike
How I Teach People With Disabilities To Ride A Bike I have been fortunate enough to teach over 20,000 people with various physical disabilities how to ride a bike by using a method I developed. My students have included people with: visual impairment, Autism, paraplegics, hemiplegics, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, soldiers with PTSD, etc. The only precursor is that students must have the ability to walk without physical aid. The results have been outstanding both mentally and physically, with students reacting on an immediate basis. Meeting the challenge and achieving the goal is a great victory for the student. Cycling enables control of a portable mechanical tool that expands the student's mobility and breaks new boundaries. After the skill acquisition phase and the improvement in self-confidence, the students turn to fulfill the next dream and meet the challenge which serves as an incentive to acquire additional skills. You can visit my website: http://www.yossi-kat.com/ Noa 16 Years old with Autism Learns to Ride A ride In the video I have attached, you can see Noa Leran learning how to ride a bike, how to stop & how to start riding. She is enjoying an activity from the idea of being independent.
- Starting a Business as a Wheelchair User: The Handi Pac Story
What is Handi Pac? I pride myself in saying that I am an official business owner and the founder of a line of bags designed for wheelchair users. That being said, I had no idea what I was getting myself into nor the amount of work it would be, but I do love what I’m doing. I strongly believe that women should support and empower one another so I’d like to share some tips that I’ve learned during this process that may be helpful for those wanting to start their own business. I never thought of how much work was involved when thinking/developing an idea, to finally launching my product to market. A bag created out of my need for Independence and freedom. I can recall my relentless searches on the Internet, looking for a wheelchair bag that was similar to the vision in my head. This bag didn't exist online or in stores, my excitement grew as I pondered this. Finding a need is one thing but you need to be passionate about what you are doing because starting a business is hard work and all-consuming. Although my situation prevented me from doing physical work, my thoughts were ongoing and strong. I now had a goal to work towards, something I could truly call my own. This gave me purpose, passion, and determination. I was going to find a way to make this happen regardless of my mobility needs. I was never one to fear the unknown or shy away from completing a project. The past two years have shown that my perseverance and hard work is starting to show. In creating a product or service, you obviously need to learn as much as possible about the industry. This requires hours and hours of research but you are way ahead of the learning curve if you find someone with knowledge and expertise that can only come from years of working in the field. Find a mentor My next step was to find someone who could turn my vision which is now known as the Handi-Pac, into reality. Through a complete fluke, I was able to find Bill Ostrom of Ostrom packs ( Ostrompacks.com), who would grow to be my mentor and friend. He constructed my prototypes that mirrored my vision as to what I needed to the Handi Pac to be. Due to his extensive experience and unparalleled attention to detail, I was able to explain my concept, which became my first working prototype. Bill and I spoke on the phone and I drank in any wisdom that he was willing to share. After countless hours on the telephone, we created something that is truly unique and needed for wheelchair users. Without Bill's support/guidance, I couldn't imagine where I'd be today. I can't stress enough Bill’s belief in me which was an integral piece of this puzzle. All you really need is a great person, such as Bill, to turn dreams into reality but you also need to listen. Sometimes you are going to hear information that is not necessarily in line with your vision and you will need to adapt your plan. This is not always easy to do but is paramount to be successful. Bill suggested ideas which I was able to follow to establish branding for my product, and without his business savvy, I would still be learning the ins and outs on how to create a successful business strategy. I’m not sure how I found him but I'm so glad I did! Develop meaningful partnerships Exploring the feasibility by creating a business plan with a thorough financial budget, is imperative. There is a wealth of knowledge online that even includes templates for you to follow during this phase. Once again, find a mentor to review and get feedback or connect with a program such as SCORE which will link you with a volunteer entrepreneur to help guide you through the process. The prototyping phase has been a lengthy process, one that allowed me the opportunity to form invaluable relationships. Samanta Bullock is one of those relationships. She has not only provided her honest and constructive feedback, but she has done it while traveling in her wheelchair for her modeling career. She is from London, England where wheelchair modeling is much more advanced than it is here. Samanta is now my friend, collaborator and like-minded individual. I'm honored to partner with Samanta Bullock, a woman who is impacting others in wheelchairs and has the same drive as I do. My biggest hurdle to date has always been the lack of funding hence why I decided to create a Kickstarter starter campaign. If successful, I will be able to order my first allotment of bags. I will be able to be a contributing member of society, which is beyond important for me. I wasted so many precious years, feeling sorry for myself and my situation. Keep up with the Handi Pac Today's a new day and I’m trying to make other wheelchair users lives better by giving the gift of independence. My Kickstarter will offer the Handi Pac at a promotional price vs my website. Please be sure to visit my website at advancedfreedom.com and leave your email so I can contact you when my campaign is live. - Down With Disability
New Day, New Choice It's the start of a brand new day. Your eyes open slowly as you take in your first deep breath to fully wake up your sleeping body. You hear the birds chirping outside and the traffic slowly starting to get louder and louder as people rush to work. You haven't even flipped off the covers and you already have a looming feeling within your body signaling what type of day you are going to have. My name is Miguel Ayala, I have Cerebral Palsy and this is a common scenario for me in the morning. What is the looming feeling, you might ask? It depends on the amount of soreness I feel on a particular day. If it's worse than usual, I know my day is going to be a bit more of a struggle and mentally prepare myself. There are some days however when I seemingly jump off the bed and am ready to take over the world! I use to let this physical feeling dictate how my day was going to play out until I realized I have a choice. This is the real struggle of having a disability, deciding how much it's going to impact our internal well being. It's a balancing act, one I struggled to maintain for the majority of my life. I let my pain, feeling of not belonging, and my inability to do certain things completely overtake me. As I got older, I learned to value my disability but those feelings of unworthiness still remain. My experience has taught me that those feelings will never go away until you deal with them directly. That's why I started the "Down With Disability" YouTube channel. For most of my life, I felt alone in dealing with my Cerebral Palsy. I watched my brother have to struggle with his Epilepsy as well and made a promise to help others avoid, or at least help to cope with that crushing loneliness. My motto in life has become, "Press Forward. Fear Nothing." It was said by a Catholic Nun of all people, Saint Katharine Drexel. I found it coincidentally during the darkest moment of my life and have strived to live it ever since.
