Life is good with Muscular Dystrophy
I was born in 1974, and I have had Becker's muscular dystrophy since I was 13 years old. I walked a lot while I was a child, but the disease was on its' way. I was also exercising occasionally, but only started using a wheelchair at the age of 36 years when I could no longer walk.
Exercising to Help Muscular Dystrophy
I have received physiotherapy consistently, but it was not efficient because I could not find a healthy working environment. After conducting hours of research regarding exercise, I began working on a plan, and have now been exercising on a regular basis since March 2016. I started exercising my arms using 1 kg, and have increased the weight by half a kg every three months.
As of August 2017, I have been exercising with 3.5 kg, and have observed that I have strengthened my biceps with a volume increase in my triceps too. For leg exercises, I started exercising with 1.5 kg in June 2016. I exercise with 5 kg now. I have also become thinner in my stomach and legs, and have strengthened my achilles tendon. I have also strengthened my hips and shoulders, though it has been a slow process. I have divided my exercises into certain days.
Furthermore, I started using EMS technology as of January 2017, and I have seen a positive effect on my exercising. I don't receive any help when I train. I give myself rest days, and I would like to request your assistance as I want to find a scientific qualification. I will not explain my exercise days, resting days, and how I use EMS technology right now. I have specified these days with an extensive effort. I've made a lot of progress with my distance in 1.5 years. I want to prove that people with Muscular Dystrophy can develop muscles with dedicated exercise. I continue exercising with the equipment I have found or designed to facilitate walking and help my achilles tendon. I walk, exercise my arms with a dumbbell, work my legs with ankle weights, and use EMS technology. I divided them into days and exercises accordingly.
I started dancing with the Disabled Tango Project in 2010. I'm in a show, which I cannot do without a partner.
