Adaptation, motivation, good vibrations

I can't say where exactly my intensity originates from, most likely my Irish catholic grandmother, but I've always pushed the limits. I was born in 1985 missing part of my right arm. From the start, I wanted to do things, my way and without help. When I rode my first tricycle, I refused to ride it on the sidewalk because that was, "too easy" and instead, rode over the grassy terrain. My parents offered me the best in prosthetics but they spent a majority of the time hanging in the coat closet at school. I made an early decision that prosthetics weren't for me. I played most sports: swimming, basketball, track but my passion was soccer. After college, running became a significant part of my life teaching me dicipline and building my confidence in new ways. I found myself working with special needs children, under the age of three. My personal experience with being different allowed me to navigate that fine line of pushing my kids while making them feel supported and successful. I went back to work in my masters in speech and language pathology and currently work in a private practice. I truly feel like I do what I am. Recently, after some tough and transformative years, I've found my way back to fitness and resurfacing that innate intensity. I've met incredible people who challenge me and never underestimate my abilities. With my social media page, @adaptdorepeat, I hope to remind people that they wake up with the same decisions I do each day. I'm not perfect, and not even fully comfortable being called an "inspiration"; however, I do try to choose the outlets that reflect and create my best self. I hope to motivate and inspire people to create the same for themselves!
