One thing happened that changed my life; it was finding my own voice in a beautiful thing called music
My name is Aviv Wolf. I am 30 Years old. I was born and raised as a regular girl until the age of four in which a behavioral disorder and gap had become visible. At the age of 8 I found out I was suffering from Turrets Syndrome, a neurological disorder where expression comes with versatile and continuous physical and voice ticks.
Due to this unique disease and my different way of expressing myself, I have suffered for many years both mentally and physically. At the age of 19, I volunteered for civil service and I didn’t know what the future had to hold for me. I was socially alone and frustrated but then one thing happened that changed my life; it was finding my own voice in a beautiful thing called music.
Since an early age I've been singing, always hoping to be a professional singer one day. On the other hand I was always afraid and insecure that I would be laughed and mocked at due to my external ticks. Suddenly this strong desire to try had developed inside of me and I finally gathered the nerve to get up and sing on Karakoe night of a school trip. As many people were singing out of tune, and some were actually really bad, I thought to myself that this was my opportunity to try and sing my heart out. I choose a song I really loved which was also emotional to me. The song I chose is called "because of the wind" which talks about finding your own personal voice and human spirit that will guide and help you in finding your way. From the first time I went on stage, I knew that I found my place and my purpose in life which is to be a singer. Believe in yourself and sing your dreams!
