​Hi, my name is Mikhal Banas. I’m 30 years old and live with muscular dystrophy, a rare neuromuscular disease that affects every muscle in my body. The only functional movement I have is limited use of my arms, so I rely on an electric wheelchair and cannot transfer into a regular vehicle.

​For the past 14 years in Campbell River, transportation has been a major struggle. Taxis are unreliable and expensive, and HandyDART often requires booking weeks in advance. These barriers even forced me to leave my 7-year job as a Walmart greeter.

​I’m fundraising for a wheelchair-accessible van so I can regain my independence, work, and live a more spontaneous life. Any help sharing my GoFundMe page would mean the world to me. Thank you for your support!
