1. What is your favorite hobby? How has that made an impact on your life?
I love nature and pet photography. I find it to be therapeutic. It is also an artistic outlet for me.
2. As a wheelchair user, how do you advocate for yourself?
I research options for each care decision that I make. I reach out to other individuals I have met to seek their feedback and support. I then don’t hesitate to speak up for what I need and have clear explanations of why I need it. I also often share medical articles with my physicians to help “diplomatically” educate them on my rare disease.
3. What advice would you give to younger girls that are also in a wheelchair and considering joining the Ms. Wheelchair America competition?
I would say, “do it!” You cannot miss out on this educational, empowering, once in a lifetime experience. The sisterhood alone would be a reason to do it, but you will gain so much more.
4. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
I would change nothing; I am happy with the person that God made me to be.
5. What was your favorite vacation and why?
My favorite vacation was Sanibel Island, Florida. It’s the seashell capitol of the United States, and I love seashells. It’s also very quiet and laid back.
