Paralyzed from one day to another
My name is Rebecka, I'm 22 years old. I'm half Montenegrin and half Swedish, but live in Sweden. This story started when I was 16 yrs old when my life changed drastically. At that age I contracted Transverse Myelitis, which resulted in me becoming a wheelchair user. From beeing a promising football player to being told I would never play again was very hurtfull. After completing my rehabilitation I felt like I was missing something. I had to begin doing some kind of sport again to feel happiness and life motivation! I started to try wheelchair tennis. From the first hit I would say I loved it. I started to play 2-3 times a week and improved a lot. Then I was invited to the Swedish national team camp and after that I started playing more serious. Today I'm number 1 in Sweden, I have a world ranking of 54, and I travel all over Europe at least once a month to play tournaments on the wheelchair tennis tour. I found my thing and I'm blessed because of that. <3 Besides tennis, I'm also in my last year of university. In about a year I'll be a primary school teacher. Yes, in a wheelchair! Working with kids is just amazing because they give back so much. Thank you for taking time to read my story, and please don't forget to follow my story!
