A little about me!
Hi, my name is Edgar and my journey as a person who uses a wheelchair “just to move around” began in 2004. I was just like any other 15 year old kid. I was very active in all kinds of sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming). I used to love running and fishing with my friends.
However, everything change when my parents decided that what was best for our family was to move from Guatemala to the United States. Unfortunately, just a month after arriving there I became paralyzed from the neck down to my toes and was hooked to a ventilator. It was a side effect of some of the vaccines that I had taken in order to register for school. I was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis.
It has been a tough journey, especially the first few years. I wish none of this had happened to me, but we have to keep positive and have faith that everything will work out for the best. Stay Positive!
