Health is Wealth With Ulcerative Colitis

I remember when I was first diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 23 the doctor mentioned the possibility of having an 'ileostomy bag' this concept at the time was horrifying. But three years to that date; I had to face my fear and undergo life changing surgery; at the time I never thought this 'bag' would truly be a blessing in disguise. It literally and figuratively saved my life. It allowed me time to get my strength back, let me sleep through the night, it made me capable of eating all of my favorite foods again, and it helped me look at life through different lenses. Life is truly a gift and I hope I never take another day for granted again. I am so excited for this next journey and I know it will come with its own obstacles to overcome. I will always be proud to wear this bag on my belly, it gave me a second chance at life; 6 months & going strong.
