Life gave me tough times; but I was unbeatable!
I was in the 10th grade when my leg was hit against the sofa and it stayed swollen for days. This was in 2007. An X-Ray detected no fracture but showed an unwanted growth and the MRI confirmed the tumour. A biopsy was done and I had cancer in my left leg. My oncologist treated me and chemotherapy was done. Apparently, 3 to 4 of every 1000 kids are detected with this form of cancer. But to prevent the cancer from spreading, I was advised to amputate my leg as other such patients with similar instances had met with fatal results. In 2010 - I had my scans done & my lungs were detected with nodules. The cancer cells were coming back. I went through treatment as the nodules were removed and underwent chemotherapy, once again. Today, I celebrate 7 years of having beaten cancer twice at the age of 24. I don't feel disabled or restricted or look at it from a negative perspective! Pursuing my Chartered Accountancy because maths and finance have always fascinated me, as a happy-go-lucky I look back at the last decade, I've become an even more positive and happy person. What I want to share is that Cancer is not just your fight. It becomes the entire family's fight. It's brought me and my family closer than ever before.
