How I went I Became An Amputee Tattooer
My name is Zack Hunter (@southpawtattoos). I started tattooing and making tattoo art at a young age and never looked back!
On my 19th birthday my life was turned upside down when unfortunately I was the victim of a texting and driving accident. When I was finally able to free myself from the vehicle, I started to realize that something was missing, something didn't feel right. I had lost my right arm. When I was in the hospital, I was so confused, hurt and lost. Why me? What am I going to do now? Why did I have to lose my dominant arm?
In the coming months after the accident, I suffered from extreme depression and drug addiction. I will never forget the moment when I was asked "what are you going to do now?" Being that tattooing was all I'd ever known, I decided that I was going to teach myself how to tattoo again with my non-dominant hand. With a tremendous amount of help from my friends and family, I was able to completely turn my life around and start my road to becoming a left handed tattoo artist.
It's not an easy task, but I still have my life and I am so grateful for that. It has only been a little over two years since that day in June. I am still climbing that mountain and I am still fighting that fight. There is NOTHING you cannot do, but if you want something in this life you have to take it!
